Description
My paintings are inspired by my unquenchable passion for preserving and projecting African culture to the global stage.
Through my paintings, I am determined to give beauty to the sight, heal emotional wounds and injuries, emphasize love, preach peaceful coexistence and hope, highlight societal ills and injustices, advocate for the teeming poor, unite families and mend the scars caused by inevitable disagreements.
I educate black youth about their brave legends, reconcile the black community with its beautiful roots, and magnify the Creator for His wonderful creations.

Oluwafemi Akanmu
The multitalented and mixed-media artist, Oluwafemi Akanmu, was born in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria, in 1994, where he completed his basic and elementary education. He later attended Emmanuel Alayande College of Education (NCE) for his tertiary education, studying Fine and Applied Arts.
Being a practiced and art graduate with experience and a lifelong passion for art, Oluwafemi chose art as a career. These experiences significantly influence his artistic transmission. Through continuous practice, research, and study, he specialized in painting and graphics during college. His time working as a studio assistant at Mr. Raph Basic Art Studio helped him establish his unique style in mixed-media art.
Most of his works showcase ideologies of life, events, day-to-day activities, past experiences, and imagination.
Artist’s Statement
Through art, I aim to highlight the generosity of African culture and its beauty, while celebrating African black skin.
By depicting African culture and past events, I also narrate the ways of life and their patterns.
My art intentionally conveys hope to poor African families and homeless children, assuring them that hope is certain.
On the other hand, I also showcase the setup of an African home filled with hope that surrounds it.
As a native artist from a humble background with modern education, my work engages with the life situations of real black people.
Allow me to inform you that my artistic practice is announced through images that rest on the foundational pillars of love, hope, nature, culture, rites, traditions, courage, humility, and calmness.
My art covers still life, portraiture, nature, abstracts, etc.
