Description

"Wisdom invites us to pause and consider: what does it mean to be given truth? What do we sacrifice to receive it? And what responsibility comes with knowing?"

Wisdom is a visual meditation on the quiet power of introspection and the fruit of disciplined learning. At the heart of the composition lies interplay of bold abstract forms and realistic portraiture really sets the stage for a compelling narrative centered on Wisdom.

Woman, rendered with peaceful realism, eyes closed, immersed in deep thought or inner awakening. The abstract figure hand rests an apple, not of temptation, but of truth. It is the symbol of wisdom: knowledge earned, not given.

The surrounding abstract elements, especially the geometric and gestural forms, represent the noise of the world, the complexity of choice, culture, and chaos. Yet the woman remains centered, calm, and focused. The apple becomes the anchor; a guide amidst dissonance.

Wisdom is responsibility.

Artist

Abraham Adewole Ayomide

Abraham Adewole Ayomide is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose work is deeply rooted in the exploration of human experience, social connections, and the unseen aspects of life. Drawing inspiration from both spiritual and social realms, ranging from biblical teachings to sociological observations, Abraham’s art reflects the complexities of relationships and the intricate balance between what is seen and what is not.

Born and raised in Oghamssa, Nigeria, Africa, Abraham developed a strong foundation in the sciences discipline during his high school days before diving into the world of art. He pursued his National Diploma in Art and Design at the Polytechnic of Ibadan, Nigeria, where he began experimenting with a range of artistic mediums.

Over time, he evolved into a self-experimental artist, blending abstract expressionism, symbolism, and realism to create works that challenge the viewer to confront the layers of reality and perception. His innovative approach to art has garnered significant recognition, including being featured in the Nigerian Independent Newspaper on December 4, 2024, for his special recognition and achievement.

Abraham’s work often blends abstract figures with realistic elements, creating a narrative that highlights the importance of communication, unity, and collaboration within societal structures. Through his art, he aims to express the beauty of relationships and evoke introspection in his audience. His art goes beyond the canvas as he continues to explore new mediums and techniques. Recently, he has been experimenting and incorporating new techniques inspired by his father’s carpentry skills, which may serve as a future avenue for his artistic growth.

ARTIST STATEMENT

“Unveiling the Unseen” is not just a phrase, it’s the essence of my artistic journey. I delve into the complexities of relationships, society, and the human condition, weaving together abstract expressionism and realism to reveal the invisible threads that bind us. My work captures emotional tensions, unspoken connections, and moments of vulnerability, portraying the unseen aspects of life.

Drawing inspiration from spiritual matters, sociology, social life, and rooted in biblical allegories, the word of knowledge, tender love, and sociological inquiries, I create symbolic abstractions where shapes and figures express the inner worlds of my subjects. The interplay of colors, brushstrokes, and forms mirrors the fluidity and complexity of human experiences, seeking to evoke reflection and introspection.

I seek to reflect the emotional layers and hidden connections within relationships because I have witnessed many relationships fail in different social and spiritual phases.

My canvas is the only refuge where I can discard those emotions and show people the beauty of unity. Even being “I” is love.

I’m currently working with materials such as acrylic, oil pastel, and charcoal. In the past, I worked with oil color, mirrors, and discarded materials. However, due to a reaction as fierce as a thunderclap in my skull each time I inhaled the scent of oil paint, I was forced to seek other paths. What once lit my creative flame began to cloud my senses, yielding severe headaches. This shift, though unplanned, became a blessing in disguise. Looking ahead, carpentry tools will become part of my emerging exploration, inspired by my father’s craftsmanship. Through hammering, sawing, and shaping, I find a rhythmic process that mirrors life’s unpredictability and resilience, a new way of breathing life into art.
